Charlottesville, VA – For over three decades, the Xi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, in proud partnership with the Clarence A. Jones Scholarship Foundation, has been a beacon of support for college-bound students in Charlottesville and surrounding counties, including Waynesboro, Virginia. This impressive collaboration has championed academic excellence and determination, a spirit deeply rooted in the legacy of Coach Jones himself. Since 1992, this impactful initiative has awarded over 190 scholarships, distributing nearly $100,000 to deserving young scholars. These awards have provided crucial financial assistance, empowering students to pursue higher education and achieve their academic dreams. This year, the scholarship banquet was held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, a special day to honor the latest recipients. The Clarence A. Jones Scholarship Foundation officially began its mission on May 23, 2008, when it was established and granted tax-exempt status. The foundation was created in loving memory of Brother Clarence A. Jones, a cherished member who entered into the Omega Chapter on September 30, 2006. His dedication to fostering potential and his unwavering belief in the power of education continue to inspire the foundation's vital work. The foundation's core purpose is to provide academic scholarships to high school students who embody the very qualities Coach Jones instilled in his players: excellence, perseverance, and a commitment to their future. A profound salute is extended to these exceptional college-bound students, their supportive families, the Xi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, and the Clarence A. Jones Scholarship Foundation. Their collective efforts continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people, ensuring that Coach Jones's spirit of excellence lives on through generations of scholars.
